Doug Nolan's dynamic presentation skills combined with a comprehensive
PowerPoint slideshow engages students to think about issues of water pollution prevention, watersheds, and our environment. Interactive lessons highlight how cars can pollute our bays and oceans and specifically focus on how new drivers can
prevent their cars from polluting their watershed.
Topics include:

  • Storm drain systems
  • Proper disposal of used oil/filters
  • Proper car washing, and
  • Green streets/parking lots
This presentation aligns with the California State Science Standards curriculum about watersheds and preventing water pollution.

The students battle it out in a high stakes game of PowerPoint Jeopardy! The water science curriculum is reinforced in this fun and participatory activity. Jeopardy drives the pollution prevention message home and gets the even the most reserved students participating in the action. Students are then divided into small groups to create posters about what they learned. This collaborative and artistic activity provides an opportunity for the kinesthetic and visual learners to shine, and understand the water science lesson.
